A good family itinerary leaves time for meals, rest and the journey between activities. In the Andamans, hotel changes and ferry transfers deserve as much attention as beach visits. Plan around your youngest traveller’s routine and the needs of anyone who finds long or busy days difficult.
Start by deciding how often your family wants to pack and move. Travel Coo’s standard five-night family route has two nights in Port Blair, two in Havelock and one in Neil. The consecutive Havelock nights give you a day without changing islands or hotels.
A shorter trip can still work, but one night per island means more frequent checkouts. An extra night is most useful when it creates breathing room rather than another tightly scheduled excursion. Review the 5N6D family itinerary alongside your flight times.
On ferry days, allow time for breakfast, packing, the drive to the jetty and the operator’s reporting requirements. Avoid promising children a full afternoon programme before you know the arrival and hotel check-in arrangements.
Keep tickets, identification, water, suitable snacks, spare clothes and essential personal items in an accessible bag. Check what luggage help is available if you are travelling with a stroller or several bags. Ask about accessibility arrangements in advance instead of assuming every transfer is step-free.
“Family package” does not describe a room’s sleeping layout. Tell the booking team the number of adults, each child’s age and whether you need an extra bed, cot or connecting rooms. Request confirmation of the actual arrangement, any additional charges and whether your preference is guaranteed or subject to availability.
Also consider the room’s distance from the dining area, stairs and travel time to the jetty. These practical details may matter more to your family than a hotel category label.
The standard Travel Coo family package has breakfast only. Budget for lunch, dinner and snacks. If your child needs familiar foods, has dietary restrictions or eats early, ask about meal options and timings before selecting hotels. Do not assume a restaurant can meet a dietary requirement without direct confirmation.
On transfer days, check whether breakfast can be served before pickup. An early departure may affect your usual routine even when breakfast is included in the package.
For boat excursions and water activities, confirm minimum-age rules, suitability, equipment and operating conditions with the provider. An activity being available on an island does not mean every child can participate. Ask what the rest of the family can do if someone opts out.
Follow local notices and staff instructions at beaches. Do not assume every beach is suitable for swimming or that conditions remain the same throughout the day. A beach visit can also mean sand play, photographs or a walk rather than entering the water.
Consider whether your family will enjoy another island stay or prefer fewer hotel changes. One Neil night adds a different stop, but it also adds packing and transfers.
Request a flexible plan before booking. Ask whether skipping an included activity affects the price; do not assume a refund will apply.
